Twi-Merch Fail

As many people have figured out, Twilight is kind of a big thing. Not only have they realized that it's a big thing, but, they've realized it's a cash cow. They've caught onto the fact that twifans want to buy merch, which means there's now a lot of people trying to get a piece of that pie.

After the ladies over at Twitarded introduced me to the wonderful twi-merch over at Etsy I've been looking around and checking out what they have.

There are some great, awesome, things out there! You can spend hours finding all kinds of super cool Twilight things that are everything from subtle to out loud. While pouring through the awesome though, there was a whole lot of awful that kept catching my eye. Here I want to take a moment to tip hats to the awful :)

One of my faves is the Twi themed bath products. I kind of get the spritzers and the perfumes, but, the soap, body butter, salt scrub, and whipped cream soap?

Out of this category, one caught my eye as particularly bad, just a little something called The Bella Bomb. Reading the description makes me think they haven't really read the book. But beyond that, what about red and gray blobs on a bath bomb particularly say Bella? They do kind of vaguely mention that it has an energizing, mysterious and powerfully seductive scent, and other than she smells good to all the vamps, this just seems like a reach...maybe they're going for the idea that you'll smell like Bella if you soak in this? I guess that would be better than thinking you're soaking in Bella bits (which is kind of what the gray and red may imply)

at least the Edward sparkle bath bomb by the same seller has some glittery stuff in it, and hey, you can pretend you're bathing in some Edward ;) That's a concept I think people will more get behind ...

Then there's the shoes, while there were some good efforts on Twilight sneaks, and some that are good enough I would actually think about wearing out, there were also these Edward Sneakers that make me think it's time to go back to the drawing board and try again. I mean I like Edward as much as the next person, but, glitter gluing a poster of him to my tacky shoes does not necessarily make them awesome.

Again with necklaces, there are actually a lot of very cool things. The "Look after my heart" theme has actually spawned some beautiful pieces, some beautiful pieces and then this Seaglass necklace which just looks like you stuck an apple flavor jolly rancher glob to an apple charm. Doesn't really make me think Twi just by seeing it.

Another necklace that is a nice concept that just didn't translate well is the Bella Wire Necklace Maybe not so hot to wear as a fashion accessory, but, may be helpful with identification when she had an accident (pre vamp days)

This Hair Fork just plain old made me laugh. I don't get it, but, it's somehow SO funny! At first I couldn't get over thinking it was a "be safe" Fro pick and then I saw the "demonstration picture" and they actually mean it to be worn as a fancy up-do accessory. Somehow something that looks like I beat it out of a hubcap just doesn't say dressy to me...

When I first saw this Forks Yarn it made me think that's COMPLETLY reaching, but, on second thought could see A LOT of people buying these color combos to knit their own scarves with, especially the Edward's Hair variety (off to figure out how to make myself a hair scarf ...)

While this Magnet Ring concept is kind of cool, being able to change out the picture and all, these pictures aren't really the kind I'd want to wear on my hand (again disproving the concept that you can just throw a movie poster on there and it'll make it cool). Although I'm sure there's some fan out there that will just think it's the bees knees.

mmMoxie pointed me towards this gem which is entirely creepy and labeled solely as Robert Pattinson

Closing in on the creepy here with a mandatory creepy doll (you knew there'd be at least one) Renesmee in tutu who's wearing a fairly odd t-shirt. I guess it would be the same as sticking any kid in a shirt that reads "my parents fell in love" or "love child" although with the whole birthing scene, you'd think they really wouldn't want to call attention to the whole "how she got here" issue...

And finally one that is so terrible, it's back to awesome, glow in the dark RPattz soap! Now you too can wash your naughty bits with RPattz face (all the while being able to see him enjoying it, in the dark no less!)

My Very Own Pocket E

It was a very quick dive into ridiculousness for me. I was not even aware of the "Edward Cullen Action Figure" until I started reading into the archives over on www.twitarded.blogspot.com, but, as soon as I saw him, I went to amazon.com to price him. I wanted one.

I gave myself two days and then ordered him, no sitting on the fence, no thinking about it, no worrying about if it would look too crazy, nope, not for me, just straight from "I need one" to "pretending to think it over so I feel like I was responsible with my money" to "it's now on the way"

I then was pouty because when I saw the projected delivery date, I realized that he'd miss bunco, a wedding, and a birthday party. All prime adventure opportunities! Oh well, C'est la vie!

I did find though that I would need a carrying case to protect my beloved Edward and went right out (online of course) and found one, that was nearly as much as PE himself, and bought it without flinching (I'm getting quite good at purposefully not balking at or keeping track of how much money, that we can't really afford mind you, that I'm throwing into this obsession)

I then sat back to while away the 5-10 days before I would have in my hands, my very own Little-E!

I bet you can't guess how much I squee-ed when my mail lady honked today to let me know I had a package ... let's just say, a lot.

And yeppers, it was my little man! (along with the other twi-related books I bought to get the free shipping, natch!)

So now begins the saga of me and little-e, which I will also be posting over at The Great Adventures of Pocket E a place where I will also try to feature the adventures of other Mini-E's as well.

Now just the dilemma of whether to open him up now or not when I have nowhere safe to keep him yet ...

Darn him if he isn't trying to dazzle me into letting him out!

Blueprints for a Twi-Lair

We've lived in this house for over three years now.

When we moved in, the master closet (my closet mind you; hubs has a walk in closet of his own in the room down the hall in which he can be messy and loud in the mornings if he so chooses) was spacious enough, but, massively underutilized. On one side it had a single hanger rod which was too thick for any standard hanger to fit around. Apparently they had been using wire hangers that they had bent to the size of the rod. On the other side, they had a row of pegs. Lastly, in the back, there is a ledge and one last small rod.

One of the first things I did after we moved in was to take out the old large rod and peg row, and to buy a nice new closet organizer system and some paint. I was going to have me a nice little area of my own to hang out in.

That was about as far as I got, and no further progress was made for a very long time.

Eventually I got hubs to hang the rail to put the closet system on and then went to the hardware store to buy more screws, but, no more. My clothes live on the floor and that's what it is for now.

Then I got twijacked.

Then I started thinking I wanted to not only buy, but actually put up some posters (VERY out of character for me!) That I in fact had urges to plaster every surface I could find with posters.

I decided that while this did sound appealing, it just may give away just how nuts I had become.

Hubs knows I like twilight, he knows I've read the books several times, he knows I've watched the movie more than once. He also knows that in the past week I've been looking it up more, reading more, and talking about it more.

He does not know I've begun to do crazy things such as buy a Pocket E, a Pocket E carrying case, two companion books, and spent about $20 at the grocery magazine aisle the other day. It is this craziness that I would like to keep on the DL just a little longer. If nothing else to stop the questions about where the money for all this is coming from ...

The solution was staring me in the face the other day when I woke up. Yes folks, my closet is a prime poster plastering grounds! I figure I can paint, get the organizer up and start covering surface as soon as I want, and bonus, it is probably the one place in the house that hubs really doesn't go in.

The only thing now, is that it seems that the paint I had previously purchased (a kind of dusty rose and a dusty coffee ... looking back, I don't know why these colors really) may not go with my new twilight theme.

So, here's where you get to help :) What colors do you think would be better with my intent to turn this into the perfect Twi-lair?

I'm kind of thinking some sort of charcoal maybe, and silver? possibly? But, that may not go well with the "cherry" of the organizer system ...

Regardless, here's some before pictures, and of course, I'll keep you posted!

This lets you see the color of the 'wood', and then the back area goes back into a little nook.

Now if only I could somehow make sealing the roof, organizing, cleaning, and fixing the duct work twilight related, I think procrastination and my "to do" list would become things of the past.
